Hotel description
The Baltschug Kempinski Hotel is located in the very center of the Russian capital, on the banks of the Moscow-river, in front of the Kremlin. Numerous sights, several museums and theatres are located close to the hotel. Since the hotel is situated in a relatively quiet region of Zamoskvorechie, one can easily avoid hustle of the megapolis center. The Baltschug Kempinski is famous for meteorological peculiarity: weather forecasters discovered that it is the warmest place in Moscow. It was noticed that in winters the temperature here is higher than the average city temperature.
The history of the Baltschug Kempinski Hotel, one of the most luxurious in Moscow, started in 1898, when on the very place where the hotel is situated nowadays was founded the inn intended for merchants and dealers. Later the building housed several hotels until in 1989 the German company Kempinski started construction works and restoration of the future Baltschug Kempinski Hotel. The hotel was named after the street it is situated on. Opened in 1992, the Baltschug Kempinski Moscow Hotel became the center of international economic and cultural collaboration.
The Baltschug Kempinski Moscow Hotel was the place of staying of many world celebrities, politics, actors, show business stars. Among them were Pavel Bure, Pele, Sting, George Soros, Claudia Schiffer, David Rockfeller, Laisa Minelli, Bjork, Robert de Niro and many others.
In 1998 the Baltschug Kempinski was awarded by Moscow government as the winner in the nomination of the best Moscow 5-star hotel. In 1999, 2000 and 2001 it became the owner of the honorable award "5-star Diamond", which is presented by the American Hospitality Academy.
