Hotel description
The Metropol was founded in 1905 as a part of the grandiose project of the famous businessman and patron of art Savva Mamontov. He intended building the complex containing the hotel, exhibition halls, restaurants and the theater in the center of Moscow.
Such famous artists as Korovin, Vrubel, Polenov and others participated in the complex creation. There is a legend that it was in the central restaurant of the Metropol where Russian poet Esenin declared his love to famous dancer Isidora Duncan. In this hall the American movie Doctor Jivago was shot, and it was here that Russian designer Valentin Udashkin presented his first collection.
After reconstruction that was finished in 1991 the hotel complex Metropol was recognized as the highest-class hotel. It was the first hotel in Moscow that worked according to the world standard service.
In September, 1999 the Metropol Hotel was honored the annual prize in tourism The Guiding Star as the best hotel actively promoting attraction of tourists to Moscow.
The Metropol Hotel is located in the center of Moscow, near the Red Square and the Kremlin, the main sights of the Russian capital.
