The Golden Ring is the name for a popular tourist route with the network of ancient towns north-east of Moscow. These Russian towns are famous for unique architectural constructions dating back to the 12-17th centuries.
During this tour you will visit Sergiev Posad, Vladimir and Suzdal. These towns are old: Sergiev Posad, the first town you will see, grew up in the 15th century around one of the greatest of Russian monasteries, the Troitse-Sergieva (Trinity) Lavra. Vladimir was founded in 1108 and Suzdal was first mentioned in chronicles in 1024. These three ancient towns have much to captivate you with: Sergiev Posad and Vladimir are famous for their picturesque monasteries and churches and Suzdal is considered to be the museum of architecture.

Apart from Kremlin, Yaroslavl is famous for its ancient churches and monasteries. The Savior Transfiguration Cathedral is the oldest building in the city. The Cathedral boasts a unique fresco ensemble that dates back to the time of Ivan the Terrible.


St. Euthymius Cathedral
Majestic St. Euthymius Cathedral is one of Suzdal's major attractions. This five-domed cathedral is massive and imposing. It features sumptuous frescos dating back to the 16-17th centuries. Some frescos depict the life of St. Euthymius.
